You can tell I was struggling for a witty topic today. But it is a "National" Day along with it also being National Roots Day.
Pfeffernüsse are small spice cookies, popular as a holiday treat with Germans and ethnic Mennonites in North America. Similar cookies are made in Denmark, and The Netherlands, as well.
They do look pretty scrummy so I will try and find a recipe at some point.
Nessie is BACK
Hurrah, great news. There have been mass reporting of Nessie sightings throughout 2020. One quick-thinking tourist grabbed her phone and took a few pictures, which corresponded with photos others had taken.
Ms Scott said: "We were walking around Urquhart Castle sightseeing on a weekend away.
"I was just looking over the loch from the castle when I spotted something in the water.
"I initially thought it was a bird sitting on the water but my partner said it definitely wasn't.
"By the time I got my phone camera on it had slowly dipped under the water and then appeared again a short distance further away.
"That's when I took the photos. It then did the same thing again a couple of more times until it was much further away."
Karen's partner estimated that the creature was the size of a very large seal.
"But when we spoke to the guides at the castle they said it was very rare for a seal to be this far up Loch Ness so I don't know what it was," she added.
"I was quite excited, especially when I went onto the sightings website and found that there were similar pictures to mine."
With tourists numbers having dropped significantly since the start of the Covid outbreak maybe Nessie thought it was safe to surface for a while.

Talk about being caught with your pants down.
An L.A. County Sheriff's deputy allegedly had sex right by the Bates Motel on the Universal Studios lot, and the guy had his mic open for all to hear. As you can probably guess, it was recorded and is now the talk of the department.
The deputy didn't respond when the dispatcher tried to get his attention to let him know his mic was open.
The deputy in question has been relieved of duty and his peace officer's powers have
been suspended pending an investigation.
A bit of an update from my Covid story from Monday where a guy lied to United Airlines staff that he wasn't sick and then died after brave attempts to resuscitate him.
Well, now several passengers who were on the same flight fear they may have COVID
themselves and they're thinking about legal action.
Francois Montinat says he's suffering from strong nasal and head congestion, and it's
freaking him out because he had COVID back in May and those were 2 of the many symptoms he experienced.
Adding to his worries ... he can't get an appointment for a COVID test and he feels
like crap and doesn't want to stand in a first-come-first-served line for hours.
Montinat says he thinks United's safety protocol is deficient and he's pondering legal action for emotional distress. (Bull-crap, emotional distress my arse)
I have a couple of things to say about this.
It's flu season and they could have any number of cold/flu-related viruses if anything.
They should have had masks on (apart from the brave paramedic who attempted CPR)
OK, the guy was selfish to lie to the staff, but please STOP using Covid and the death of someone to try and get yourselves a bit of quick loot. Saddos.
Blind mystic Baba Vanga's predictions for 2021
This lady, Baba Vanga, real name Vangelia Gushterova, was nicknamed the 'Nostradamus of the Balkans' for her bizarre predictions which look ahead to the end of the world in 5079.
Now, this lady died in 1996, aged 85 but she is said to have predicted a cure for cancer in 2021.
She also claimed the 45th POTUS, Donald Trump will become sick with a "mysterious disease that will leave him deaf, and cause brain trauma". I call foul on this prediction because I saw her predictions for 2020 and she said exactly the same thing

Wonder how she knew he would be President!!!
