The Slap heard round the world

Before I get started here, let me first apologize for the lack of activity in this blog. When it was first created, the plan was to have it updated after every show, if not at least once a week. Unfortuneately real life issues have caused us to neglect it, and for Thali and I both apologize....

Now...The Oscars have been a dull show for years. Nothing to see here except what the celebs are wearing, and to listen to them preach to us their morals when they accept their little award. This year was a bit different. Unless you've been living under a rock, you know what transpired between Will Smith and Chris Rock. To summarize, Chris Rock tells a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's bald head, she gets butthurt, looks to Will and he goes on stage, bitch slaps Rock, then sits back down and proceeds to yell the "F" bomb in the theatre, all while being broadcast on live tv.

At this point, 4 days later, Will Smith has still not faced any consequences for his actions. No arrest for assault & battery, no repercussions from the academy, but at least the academy is investigating and will decide what to do about it. Personally, I don't know what there is to investigate, he assaulted someone ON LIVE TELEVISION!! There are only few hundred witnesses on the scene and millions of potential witnesses watching from home. It don't take a thorough investigation to see what happened, and to know what Will Smith did was wrong.

Something else that came out this morning, apparently someone DID come up to Will immediately afterward and ask him to leave the event....Will refused...WHAT?!?! If you, me, Tom, Dick, or Harry went on stage, struck the presenter and was asked to leave and refused, we'd have a team of security physically escorting us from the premises, but Will? Nooooooo, lets allow him to stay and receive his award and go back on stage and blubber on live tv for 5-7minutes...uninterrupted! Which I must say was a disgusting display..."I stand for love" blah blah..save it Will, you just shot down that arguement a few minutes ago. Save those fake tears for your next movie because I sure as hell am not buying it.

What kind of precedence does this set? Are all comedians or entertainers now open targets for people who 'get offended' by a joke, idea, or any type of speech? OR, is Will Smith the exception to the rule..the guy that no one will punish because, oohh it's just Will..he's a good guy..he was just defending his wife. Sounds alot like the policy of a lot of politicians over the past year or so about masks..you know, the 'rule for thee but not for me' crowd.

I don't believe Smith should get his Oscar rescinded...Hell, if Harvey Weinstein can keep his, when everyone knows what kind of disgusting pig he is and what he did. I don't think Will should lose his over a slap. I do, however, believe he should be arrested and charged with assault and battery. I also believe he should be denied entry to the academy awards shows for the next 2-5yrs. A man's actions have consequences, and he should have to face the same consequences you or I would have to face.

I guess I need to just sit back and chill, maybe meditate or something. I've been getting pissed off way too much lately about things going on in this world. From this incident with Will Smith and Chris Rock, to inflation, gas prices, problems at our southern border, the oppression of the Canadian people by their government, the fact that our leaders are incompetent and are making the U.S. a laughing stock to the rest of the world......breathe in.......breathe out......
